In a development which may please many in India--especially the overseas immigration-motivated students, keen to pursue studies in the US--a counselor for the US Consular Affairs, based in Chennai has, reportedly, stated that students from India will not be denied admission into the US.

But they must be true students and in a position to express appropriately the motive of their trip to the immigration officers, he added. The explanation arrived post numerous Indian students had been refused admission into the US, of late, creating panic and uncertainty amongst the aspirants.

Some people in India and elsewhere believe (perhaps rightly) that the US has become too rigid in allowing foreigners to move to the country, against the backdrop of the recent terror attacks in Paris and the looming threat of more such attacks on the Western World and India.

Coming back to the consular officer, he stressed on the students employing authorized and accepted platforms like 'Education USA', for instance, to chase their interests in education out-of-the-country. He stated that students will do well to touch base with the said platforms only to get access to genuine facts/details to guide them in the correct path.

Lately, as many as 19 Indian students--on their way to two specific American Universities, namely, the Northwestern Polytechnic University & Silicon Valley University--were for a rude shock when they were told that they cannot move to the nation and were denied admission. Still, the consular officer reportedly asserted that the universities in question were anything but blacklisted.
