Manitoba PNP Issues 99 Invitations to Express Entry Candidates

On May 21, 2020, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program issued Letters of Advice to Apply 99 immigration candidates who may qualify for a provincial nomination for Canada permanent resident. Applicants who have received LAAs in the latest now will now have a chance to officially apply for being nominated by the province by Manitoba for permanent residency. 

The invitations sent were distributed as follows:

SKILLED WORKERS IN MANITOBA

• Number of Letters of Advice to Apply issued: 72

• The lowest comprehensive ranking system score candidate invited: 485

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION STREAM

• Number of Letters of Advice to Apply issued: 12

SKILLED WORKERS OVERSEAS

• Number of Letters of Advice to Apply issued: 15 who were invited directly by the MPNP under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative

• Ranking score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 613

Out of 99 LAAs issued in this draw, 9 invitations were sent to immigration candidates who declared valid Express Entry profiles. 

Till now, the province of Manitoba has issued a total of 2,030 LAAs so far in 2020. This was also Manitoba’s 90th PNP draw since the program was first launched in April 2014. 

Manitoba Express Entry System

Among 99 LLAs issued on May 21st draw, 9 were sent to the applicants who had active express entry profiles. Express entry applicants are ranked on the basis of a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score granting points on an applicant’s age, work experience, education, and language ability.

Candidates who score the highest points are given an invitation to apply through regular draws conducted by the province. Those who receive a provincial nomination are granted 600 additional CRS points over their existing scores, effectively guaranteeing their chances of Canada PR visa in the next draw.

Skilled Worker in Manitoba

The Stream allows eligible temporary foreign workers and international graduates in Manitoba to apply for a permanent residency status in Canada. 

In the skilled worker pathway, invitations are sent to individuals who have registered in the express entry system with the MPNP. 

Skilled Workers Overseas

This is a locally-driven stream based on the immediate labor market needs of Manitoba. Under the skilled workers overseas stream, candidates are selected based on the skills they can offer to the province of Manitoba. The stream considers internationally trained, experienced, and skilled professionals for the provincial nomination.

International Graduate

The stream is only available for candidates who have completed their graduation or post-graduation from relevant educational institutions in Manitoba.
