In what could be called a rather controversial development, from the perspectives of international students and the Scottish Government, the incumbent British government has reportedly stated that it will not reinstate the Tier 1 Post-Study Work Visa. The development has though not much amused the Scottish rule and it has portrayed the development as exceptionally unfortunate and negative.

As per some reports, the Scottish administration has been making efforts to influence Westminster to restore the Tier 1 Post-Study Work Visa, even as the permit facilitated global students on Tier 4 visas to reside in Scotland and do a job in the wake of graduation.

Meanwhile, a statement of support has collected as many as 257 signatures and this comprises the signatures of agents of every publically supported colleges of Scotland. Additional signatures comprise the Universities Scotland, sector body Colleges Scotland, the representative organization for 19 higher education establishments and delegates from 64 firms of Scotland. The re-launch of the visa has also gained cross-party backing in the Scottish Parliament.

Displeasure, fury of Scottish Minister for Europe

A not too amused minister for Europe of Scotland reportedly stated that he is profoundly disenchanted and angered that the British government has forbidden a return of the Tier 1 Post-Study Work Visa even as Scotland has completely different immigration requirements, vis-à-vis the remaining areas of the nation.

He added that there is a widespread consent in Scotland, amongst firms, education foundations and through the political spectrum that Scotland requires a return of the post-study path to permit gifted students to stay put and make useful contributions to the economy of Scotland.

He further stated that the decision not to bring back the Tier 1 Post-Study Work Visa reveals that London has completely disregarded the Scottish sentiments and the area’s call to optimistically and significantly engage on the subject.

It's unstated that he will presently preside over a cross-party steering group on the Tier 1 Post-Study Work Visa to mull over their next measures in the wake of the British Government's pronouncement.

Tier 1 Post-Study Work Visa stopped in April 2012

The UK's coalition rule had ended the Tier 1 Post-Study Work Visa way back in April 2012 even as the development had hit global students, keen to pursue studies only to afterwards do a job in the nation.
