The province of British Columbia has extended its most popular Tech Pilot program till June 2021 to continue providing the employers of British Columbia a fast-tracked pathway to recruit and retain in-demand foreign skilled tech workers when there isn’t enough local workers available to fill the vacant positions.

In a statement it said that, “The BC PNP said it is extending the pilot “to provide B.C. tech employers with the continued ability to recruit and retain international talent.”

The Tech Pilot program is run and managed by the province of British Columbia as part of its provincial nominee program. The program offers a quick and seamless immigration pathway to people with excellent tech skills who wish to permanently relocate to British Columbia and want to contribute to its growth and development.

Introduced in 2017 by the province of British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP), the tech pilot program gives priority to Tech and IT workers with a job offer in one of the 29 eligible occupations mentioned in the tech pilot program. The program allows the selected candidates to migrate to BC and obtain Canadian permanent residence through the BC PNP program.

The job offer must be of at least one year and must have 120 days remaining at the time of application.

The government of British Columbia wants to attract the highest quality of tech talent across the world. Tech entrepreneurs along with tech workers can give a competitive edge to the B.C’s economy and create more employment opportunities for the people living in the province.

Since its inception in 2017, the tech pilot program is so popular that it has supported over 4,200 tech workers to be nominated for permanent residency Canada. The program has helped the technology sector in BC to attract and retain the tech talent that it needs to grow and propel in future.
